Lunch in the sun at Cordoba.
ACROSS THE TINY LANE FROM OUR HOTEL IS A SUN DRENCHED LITTLE COURTYARD CAFE, WHERE WE ENJOYED HAM AND ANCHOVY TOASTS WITH DECADENTLY RICH HOT CHOCOLATE INFUSED WITH ORANGE. A PERFECT SPOT TO RELAX BEFORE A SIESTA IN OUR SMALL 16TH CENTURY TOWN PALACE HOTEL WITH ANDALUSIAN INNER COURTYARD. HERE WE ARE, SITTING AT TABLES WHILE I ACCESS THEIR FAIRLY TEMPERAMENTAL WIRELESS CONNECTION. THE WEB PAGE OF MY BLOG COMES AND GOES SO I AM VERY WITH THIS TOUCH SCREEN AND NOW CAN'T TURN OFF THE CAPITAL LETTERS SO WILL KEEP TYPING! NOW FOR A LITTLE HISTORY LESSON BEFORE I DESCRIBE OUR VISIT TO THE MESQUITA (LISTENING TO THE GUIDES, I AM NOW GIVING IT THE NICK NAME THE MOSQUITO)! CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING IN THE CAPITAL OF MUSLIM SPAIN 10 CENTURIES AGO? THIS IS IT, AND WAS ALSO THE CENTRE OF LEARNING WITH OVER 400,000 HAND COPIED BOOKS. ....SHADES OF 'PEOPLE OF THE BOOK' BY GERALDINE BROOKS. THE 'MOSQUITO' IS AN INCREDIBLE LABYRINTH OF CANDY STRIPED ARCHWSARCHES WHICH SEEM TO GO ON FOR EVER INTT
